Trail Improvement Projects

Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties in Pennsylvania

Services Provided:

Senate Engineering Company has aided in trail development for boroughs, watershed associations, municipalities and land conservation organizations.  Senate’s involvement begins with the planning phase, assisting clients with preliminary walk thru of trail area, assisting with anticipated project costs in two phases (design and construction).  Senate provides all CAD design for trails. Senate can assist with funding applications for DCNR grants. Construction is typically funded by transportation enhancement funds through PennDOT.  Senate assists with material submissions in PennDOT’s ECMS format.   Senate also supplies PennDOT certified inspectors for construction management and project closeout.

The following are trails Senate Engineering Company has been involved with:

Rock Furnace Trail, Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County:  assisted in developing 1.5 mile trail, suspension bridge

Roaring Run Trail, Extension Phase 4, Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County: 2 mile trail along Kiskiminetas River from existing trail in Apollo to Flat Run.

Roaring Run Trail, Kiskiminetas Twp, Armstrong County: From Flat Run to Edmon. Currently in design, awaiting funding for completion.

 

Kittanning Trail, Kittanning Borough, Armstrong County: Over 2 miles of paved bituminous trail extending through Kittanning Borough

Cowanshannock North Trail, Rayburn Twp, Armstrong County: 5.5 miles extending BC Snyder Park along Allegheny River to Templeton

Mahoning North Trail, Pine Township, Armstrong County:  1 mile trail extending from Mahoning to Gray’s Eddy

Buttermilk Falls Trail, Rayburn Township, Armstrong County: 1.5 miles trail extending from Cownanshannock Trail to Buttermilk Falls

 

Treadway Trail, Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County:   2 mile trail along Allegheny River

Youghiogheny Trail, City of McKeesport, Allegheny County : Adjacent to Water Street along the Youghiogheny River from 9th Street to USX Bridge. Project consists of the installation of 2,032 linear feet of hiking/biking trail and parking lot.

Duquesne/Regional Trail Corporation: a 2 mile trail extending from the Riverton Bridge through RIDC to the Duquesne municipal line

Mckeesport/Regional Trail Corporation: a 1.25 mile traiil

Yough and McKees Point Trail: a .75 mile trail system
